We are looking for two motivated PhD candidates to work on video understanding; specifically, understanding the style in movies from the audience or the cinematographic perspective.

• The candidates would start the PhD between March and October 2023.
• Ideally, we would start with a Masters internship before the beginning of the PhD to see a good fit (March-August 2023).

### 1. PhD on time in movies

The first candidate will work on analysing scenes in movies, see more details here. The PhD will be co-supervised by Vicky Kalogeiton and Ivan Laptev from ENS, Inria Paris.

### 2. PhD on movie understanding and cinematography

The second candidate will work on exploring the cinematographic style in movies. The PhD will be co-supervised by Vicky Kalogeiton and Marc Christie from IRISA, Inria Rennes. Partially remote PhD will be considered.
